Welcome!
Hi! My name is Kristen Beakey and I’ve been a longtime blogger here at Ladybug’s Teacher Files.
Back in 2010, teacher blogs were taking off…I took the leap and started sharing teaching ideas and haven’t looked back! What started as a little blog sharing all the random teacher things grew into a larger vision. Most recently, I’ve striven to create and share hands-on, scaffolded lessons and ideas to help students build confidence and understanding in math.
Experience
I started teaching in an EL newcomer 4th grade class over two decades ago. I spent 18 years in the classroom teaching all grades from K-5 (mostly 4th and 5th) comprised of students from all over the world.
In 2020 (right during the height of Covid!) I moved to a new position in my school as a math coach and I have LOVED every moment of this new venture.
A bit more…
I just completed my 24th year of teaching. I’ve work to support students and teachers in grades K-5 through coaching and small group intervention. I have learned so much these past five years and it keeps my passion for teaching going strong!
Next school year, I am headed to a new school to work with English Language Learners (coming full circle in my career!). I remain committed to helping all students build confidence and understanding in math and I can’t wait to share more of this journey.
When I’m not doing teacherly things, I love walking, graphic design, watching movies, and traveling to escape the cold of New England!
