Welcome to Ladybug’s Teacher Files!
Hi! My name is Kristen Beakey and I’ve been a longtime blogger here at Ladybug’s Teacher Files.
Back in 2010, teacher blogs were taking off…there were SO MANY primary blogs but not as many for the upper grades. I took the leap and started sharing teaching ideas from my fourth grade classroom and haven’t looked back!
What started as a little blog sharing tutorials, tech tools, and classroom organization has since grown into a vision to create scaffolded math resources.
I am passionate about helping all students feel confident and successful in math…and I’m working hard to bring the resources I’ve used with my students to life.

Teaching Experience Over the Years
I started teaching in an ELL newcomer fourth grade class over two decades ago. I spent 18 years in the classroom teaching all grades from K-5 (mostly 4th and 5th).
I’ve taught mainstream classes, English Language Learning classrooms, and a hybrid classroom called an International Class for several years.
In 2020 (right during the height of Covid!) I moved to a new position in my school as a math coach and I LOVED every moment of this new position.

New Things on the Horizon…
I just completed my 24th year of teaching. I’ve worked to support students and teachers in grades K-5 through coaching and small group intervention. I have learned so much these past six years and it keeps my passion for teaching going strong!
Next school year, I am headed to a new school to work with English Language Learners (coming full circle in my career!). I remain committed to helping all students build confidence and understanding in math and I can’t wait to share more of this journey.
