An Incredible Student Friendly Google Font

As teachers, we are always on the search for clean, student friendly google fonts. And not just cute ones, but fonts we know our students can read with ease.
Over the years, I’ve collected a few favorite google fonts that are easy on the eyes for all learners…the typical go-to fonts like Century Gothic and Outfit. It’s become quite a hobby of mine and I even have a list of teacher favorites here: 55 Favorite Google Fonts for Teachers
But recently, I came upon a font I hadn’t really noticed before:
Lexend is an incredible, clean font featuring…
Clear Letters
Lexend was designed specifically for easily distinguishable characters (more on this below)…
A Serif Uppercase I
A HUGE bonus for teachers…this font features a capital I that is IDEAL for our elementary students.
A Bit of Whimsy
It’s clean look that also packs of lot of character…I love it so much I’m using on my website as well!

And it gets better.
I was curious and did some looking into Lexend and happened upon a whole website dedicated to this font.
And the story is amazing!
Lexend was purposefully designed to help people read with greater ease…every aspect was crafted to help all readers recognize letters, to help improve reading fluency for everyone.
Lexend.com explains this all much better than I can for you…it’s a fascinating read! And it has me convinced to use this font in all of my resources for my students from now on.
I’m sure many of you know about Lexend already, but I wanted to share in case this was new to you too!
Add Lexend to your Drive
To add Lexend to your Drive, open a new Google Doc.
Navigate to your font list, then choose More Fonts:
Search for Lexend and then click OK:
Now you’ll have Lexend in Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets. And it features tons of different weight options:
