I grabbed this crate at the end of the summer on clearance. I filled it with everything a new student would need when they first arrive…the stuff I’m usually scrambling around the room to find!
Here are some things I’ve included in the crate:

I love, love, love this idea! We have such a transient population in our school– especially in the ELL rooms.
Great idea. I also teach in a highly transient area and am no stranger to new kids! This past year I had a new student arrive the last week of school 😛Flamingo Fabulous in Second Grade
This is the best idea! Like those above, I also teach in a transient area and often have to take time to put things together for new students. This will be so helpful!
Love this idea! I need to start doing this! Even though I'm pretty sure I won't be getting any of the newbies since I'm up to 17 with my new girl from Spanish, and the rest of my team is just at 14 or 15. But, for the future! I can not stand getting a "pink slip" in my mailbox the MORNING they are coming. Really?! Let's have a child be even more scared coming into the classroom because the teacher is running around crazy trying to find items for him/her and possibly a desk! It always takes me FOREVER to get the janitors to bring me a desk up from the basement. One time I literally said, "Tell me how to get there and I'll do it myself!"
